사Sajikdan is an altar where kings in the past used to offer sacrifices to Toshin and Goksin for the people. In the past, ceremonies were held to pray for abundance by passing through Hongsalmun, located in the north, east, west, and north of this place. Hongsalmun serves as a boundary between spaces and has the meaning of sacred and protecting the inner space. For this reason, regardless of high or low status, everyone got off their horses and entered the altar with a sincere and reverent heart in front of Hongsalmun. The Hongsalmun Napkin Tray brings this custom to the table, which symbolizes modern abundance. It is used as a tray on which napkins are placed at the beginning and end of a meal and serves to make mealtime a more sacred time.

"Jongmyo and Sajik, symbolizing 500 years of the Joseon Dynasty, among them, Sajikdan was the most prosperous altar for sacrificing for all people."
The Sajik Daeje is a ritual performed to pray for a good harvest. Based on the spirit of patriotism, it is a ritual with a tradition that has been passed down for about a thousand years from the Three Kingdoms period to Goryeo and Joseon. The representative spatial elements of Sajikdan are the two-layered fence, the hongsalmun built on all sides of the fence, and the rectangular stage. According to the theory of yin and yang and five elements, each pedestal was covered with five colors of earth. The works produced in the Sajikdan project contain concerns about how the historical meaning of the Sajikdan can be replaced in the modern world, where it has changed from the past.
Sajikdan has a formal and ceremonial external element called 'Jaesa' and an internal element that fundamentally shows hope for prosperity by praying for peace and good harvest for the people. The richness shared from the past to the present is in the meal, and the shape of the table square and the meaning of the place where the richness is realized are not insufficient to be called modern Sajikdan.
The Hongsalmun of Sajikdan not only separates the inside and outside of the Sajikdan, but it also plays a role of classifying the act of being a space for ancestral rites beyond the Hongsalmun. There is always Hongsalmun at the beginning and end of Sajikdan and at the beginning and end of Sajik Daejeon. In modern times, we start eating by washing our hands, and wipe our mouths at the end of a meal. There is always a napkin at the beginning and end of a modern Sajikdan. The small Hongsalmun, which contains the meaning of Sajikdan, is drawn onto the individual table so that it can be used as a napkin tray to pray for the abundance and prosperity of modern people.
